Interviews are exactly the case for local processing

An interview recording usually contains things the speaker said off the record, names they have not cleared, and context that was never meant to leave the room. Handing that to an upload-based service means trusting their retention policy and their staff.

Transcribing locally sidesteps the question entirely: the file is decoded and processed on your own hardware, and the transcript exists only in your browser until you save it.

FAQ

Who can see my interview?

No one but you. There is no upload step, so the audio never reaches a server of ours or anyone else's.

Is this suitable for confidential sources?

Local processing removes the biggest exposure — sending the file out. How you store the resulting transcript on your own machine remains your responsibility.

How long does an hour long interview take?

Roughly an hour and forty minutes. For long interviews, splitting the audio into 10-minute parts is much more manageable.

Can I edit names before saving?

Yes. Every line is editable in the browser, and only the edited text ends up in the downloaded file.
